Reach the Right Person

The dial-by-name directory allows callers to quickly type in the name of the person in your company that they’re trying to reach and have that call go straight to their extension—no receptionist needed. You’ll save time and reduce unnecessary interruptions so that everyone can focus on doing what they do best.

Setting up a dial-by-name directory

Administrators can set up the Dial by Name Directory both at the Main Line level or the Department level, depending on your business structure, workflows, and how many employees you have.

Dial By Name Directory

How the dial-by-name directory works

When a caller arrives at your organization’s Main Company Number, they will be prompted to search for the person’s name they’re trying to speak with. The caller can then use their keypad to search for that person’s first name using the numbers that correspond to certain letters (ex: 2 = ABC, 3 = DEF, etc). If that name belongs to more than one person in the organization, the Dial by Name Directory function will conveniently list all team members with that name so the caller can select the right person.
