  • What is a VoIP phone system?

VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is a technology that allows you to make and receive phone calls via an internet connection.

Unlike old telephone systems and analog phone calls, VoIP doesn’t need a phone line or cables or clunky hardware. All you need is the Internet.

  • Why use Dialpad for your VoIP service?

If your business regularly makes lots of phone calls, then Dialpad is a VoIP phone system that’s designed for you.

  • Crystal clear call quality

To be fair, no matter how good of a VoIP solution you have, your call quality will suffer if you don’t have a reliable Internet connection.

But all other things being equal, Dialpad’s unique split cloud architecture lets you make high-definition phone calls across different devices. (The more amazing thing is that Dialpad can provide crystal-clear call quality with fewer data centers compared to other VoIP phone providers because we’ve designed our telephony system more efficiently.)

  • No hardware

When you make VoIP calls with Dialpad, there’s no need to install additional hardware, which can be expensive and inconvenient. Dialpad releases features directly to you, with no server maintenance or IT involvement, and your employees don’t have to re-learn the software repeatedly.

Just use your existing mobile devices, IP desk phones, and computers. With VoIP phone service, you can get set up much more quickly than with a traditional phone system.

  • It’s more cost-effective

Better still, Dialpad’s maintenance needs and costs are minimal. Not only do you save on hardware, you also don’t have to pay for regular updates to the software (and you pay less for long-distance calls too).

You don’t need to pay engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade it. Updates are released in small and more incremental stages, which is safer and more stable. Just use your VoIP phone system and we’ll take care of all the rest.

  • It scales with you

Diaload grows with your business while preventing overbuying or overprovisioning of services (which also helps you cut costs).

Add—and remove—users as you grow or adjust staffing, manage your phone numbers, and more, all on your own in your online account.

  • Multi-layered data security

Dialpad uses call encryption to keep your calls safe and secure. As soon as a call starts, voice packets are encoded using Secure Real-Time Protocol (SRTP). As a result, your VoIP calls are safer and more secure than they would be when using a traditional phone line.

Your data is protected by the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard, the same as that used by the US government to protect classified information. (More on security here.)

Features that matter

  • Fast deployment

Getting set up with a new phone line and account on Dialpad takes literally minutes. You can add users, swap phone numbers, and create ring groups from your online account in real-time. No matter how quickly your business grows and changes, your phone system should adapt just as quickly. Dialpad does that.

  • Keep your number

Easily port your existing phone numbers from your current business phone service provider to your Dialpad account. Whether it’s local, toll-free, or international, keep the number tied to your business without interruption in service.

  • Basic business VoIP features like call forwarding

There are some things that should just come with your phone system. Call forwarding to your mobile phone or other external numbers is one, and there are other things like good call quality and call recording, but your business communications platform shouldn’t nickel and dime you for little things.

Other features you might need: video conferencing, SMS messaging, a desktop and mobile app for iOS and Android so you can take incoming calls or join conference calls from anywhere with a Wi-Fi or cell network connection.

  • Call routing

If you get lots of incoming calls, you need call routing, which lets callers route themselves to the right agent or person instead of having a receptionist do your call routing for you. There’s even a call park feature that allows agents to “park” calls so that other agents can pick them up.

  • Call recording

Another useful feature is call recording, which lets you and your team use past calls for training and evaluation purposes.

  • Business Text Messaging

Need to send a quick note to a colleague or client? Take your pick between SMS, MMS (multimedia messaging), or group chat. Send messages internally to colleagues and externally to customers and clients from your Dialpad app.

Dialpad automatically detects whether your text messaging recipient also has the app. If they don’t, it automatically gets sent as an SMS text messaging.

  • Voicemail and visual voicemail

Sometimes, you just aren’t able to listen to all your voicemails. (Maybe you’ve got back-to-back meetings all day.) With Dialpad, your voicemails are automatically transcribed and emailed, with caller ID, right to you.

You can easily play back stored voicemails, delete old ones, read the transcripts, and even forward them to colleagues:

  • Virtual receptionist

Also known as an auto-attendant, Dialpad’s virtual receptionist feature greets your incoming callers and gives them the options for who they can reach. (“Press 1 to reach Accounting…”)

This is one of the most useful and widely applicable automation for businesses.
