Dialpad Honored For Best Branded Entertainment, Scripted Video In The 23rd Annual Webby Awards

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- April 24, 2019 – Dialpad, the only AI-driven, cloud-native business communications platform, announced today that its Failed Voice Intelligence Auditions video has been honored for Best Branded Entertainment, Scripted Video in the 23rd Annual Webby Awards. The video was produced to market the company’s recently launched Voice Intelligence technology, an artificial intelligence and natural language processing feature that allows businesses to unlock conversational insights in real-time. Today the feature is available across all four Dialpad products and is the company’s primary competitive differentiator.

“Our biggest challenge in creating this video was connecting with our audience in a memorable way. AI is such an abstract concept; It either comes off too cold and unrelatable or way too aspirational and disconnected from the reality of what the technology can do to help people now,” said Chief Marketing Officer, Keith Messick. “We didn’t like the way other brands were approaching their AI marketing, so we went in the completely opposite direction with smoking robots, Roombas, and toasters instead. We are actively poking fun at the absurdity of the AI hype.”

Failed Voice Intelligence Auditions is Dialpad’s second submission to the Webby Awards. The piece depicts various and often absurd people, robots, and home electronics (including a Roomba) auditioning for the job of Dialpad’s voice assistant. Dialpad teamed up with YouTube comedians Chris & Jack, who play the casting agents, for the video. Dialpad’s first submission to the Webby Awards, an irreverent spin on the classic 404 page, won in 2015.

“Honorees like Dialpad are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Claire Graves, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 13,000 entries we received this year.”
