What is a dial-by-name directory?
A dial-by-name directory is a feature that lets your incoming callers route themselves to the correct person or extension by searching for the name of the call recipient on their phone's keypad.

How to set up a dial-by-name directory
An admin can easily set up the dial-by-name directory on Dialpad at either the Main Line level or the Department level, depending on your business structure, workflows, and how many employees you have.
How Dialpad's dial-by-name directory works
When someone calls your main company number, they'll be prompted to search for the name of the person they’re trying to speak with.
The caller can then use their keypad to search for that person’s first name using the numbers that correspond to certain letters (like 2 = ABC, 3 = DEF, etc).
If that name belongs to more than one person in the organization, the dial-by-name directory function will list all your team members with that name so the caller can choose the right person.
