Dialpad’s 2017 Year In Review

Game-Changing Products, Additional Offices, Deepened Executive Bench and Smart Integrations Fuel Another Year of Exponential Growth

San Francisco, CA - December 21, 2017 - Dialpad the pure-cloud business communications provider, today unveiled its “2017 Year in Review.” It was a year full of growth, successes, integrations and new staffing hires. Having grown to more than 200 employees strong, in just five years since the debut of Dialpad UberConference, Dialpad has simplified business communications for over 50,000 business customers, setting the stage for a breakout year in 2018.

New Products and Outstanding Business Growth

In December, Dialpad declared victory in its mission to Kill the Desk Phone, setting a new and ambitious goal to Kill the Phone Bill with Dialpad Free. This new entry-level offering effectively disrupts the traditional small business telephone market, eliminating the monthly phone bill for small office/home office workers and small businesses with up to five employees.

December also saw Dialpad announce that Xero, a global small business platform, is now 100 percent desk phone free, following the completed deployment of Dialpad’s pure-cloud business communications solution across its global offices. Dialpad replaced the company’s legacy telephony infrastructure with a modern, software-only solution that enabled Xero to instantly spin up offices and connect international teams across any device with voice, messaging, video, and meetings.

Dialpad UberConference, the company’s award-winning conferencing and collaboration service, surpassed the 1.5 million subscriber mark in November. That same month, Dialpad was ranked No. 222 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500™, making the coveted list for the second year in a row.

In October, Dialpad debuted a Gmail Add-On in the G Suite Marketplace. Dialpad’s Add-On offers companies of all sizes a more tightly integrated business communications experience with Google’s productivity suite. Dialpad also integrated Okta, bringing a single sign-on experience to the company’s suite of cloud communications applications on all devices.

The start of Q4 saw Dialpad introduce its game-changing solution in Canada, complete with flat-rate calling, at a time of explosive growth in the country’s cloud computing market. Dialpad now offers three service plans in 39 area codes across the Canadian provinces.

As part of its Canadian expansion efforts, Dialpad announced a new Vancouver office, with plans to hire additional full-time positions in engineering, marketing, and product management. Dialpad also opened a new office in Austin, which serves as the central hub for the company’s growing sales, customer support, and professional services organizations.

Investor Bench Strengthens as Funding Increases

In September, Dialpad announced Bill Maris’ venture capital firm, Section 32, as a new investor. With Section 32’s participation, Dialpad also raised an additional $17M in a Series C follow-on round, bringing the company’s total investment to $70 million. By the end of the month, Dialpad saw an increase in its domestic and international presence, by adding depth and expertise to the executive bench and hiring for over 50 new positions.

Building Out The Executive Team

In an effort to address the important human element to fast-paced business growth, in August Dialpad added a new lead of HR and Recruiting, Tasha Liniger. Tasha has 18 years of HR and recruiting experience at the highest levels of corporate and technology startups in Silicon Valley.

In April, Dialpad Richard Rivera became the Chief Revenue Officer. Rivera is responsible for expanding and refining the company's revenue strategy and operations with a focus on global enterprise customers. Under Richard's sales leadership, in just nine months Dialpad has quickly gone from the sleeping giant to the fastest growing company in the $50 billion unified communications market.

Supporting the Startups

To help early-stage companies get off the ground, Dialpad’s Fast Start program launched in June, offering 10 free Dialpad and Dialpad UberConference by Dialpad seats to every startup funded by the country's top venture capital firms. Since then the program has been expanded to support a diverse range of young venture-backed companies, as they come to market.

Key Integrations Demonstrate Dialpad’s Success and Security in The Cloud

Demonstrating that Dialpad and AI are a perfect match, in April, Dialpad announced an integration with Amazon Alexa, providing instant, touch-free access to Dialpad’s business communications capabilities using the Alexa voice assistant. Dialpad’s Alexa integration proves that cloud computing provides complete mobility for remote and mobile workers, and makes it easier to get more work done faster.

Communications at Cloud Scale

Built to operate at cloud scale on the Google Cloud Platform, Dialpad has made weekly updates and regularly added new features to both the Dialpad and Dialpad UberConference services and applications, with the most notable being the integration of Dialpad UberConference into Dialpad. Add an ever-expanding array of integrations with Salesforce, LinkedIn, Google’s G Suite and Microsoft Office 365 makes Dialpad the most cloud-ready business communications service anywhere.
